frequently asked questions (FAQ)

what's your standard turn around time?
generally, less than two weeks from receipt of the top to completion. if a rush is needed on a special project, i'm happy to accommodate with an additional fee.

who do you use for shipping?
i am conscious about cost and carrier reliability. i use pirate ship which allows me to choose between both UPS & USPS. if you have a preference, please let me know. insurance is standard at $100 and can be increased if desired with associated cost.

do you offer binding services?
yes, but in a selective manner. binding must be pre-made and included in the initial shipment. more information can be provided on your book a quilt form.

PS: i buy ALL of my own binding pre-made from kristil at the satin bee. HIGHLY recommend.

how do i prep my quilt top?
please mark the top of both your top and backing with a post-it note. this helps me ensure your pantograph is correctly oriented. try your hardest to clip any stray threads (from the top). double check to ensure all seams are closed. do not pin or baste your layers together.

how do i prepare my batting & backing?
both batting and backing must be at least 4 inches wider on each side. if there is a backing seam, please ensure the seam is pressed open if you have sewn pieces together. mark the backing as noted above.

what type of thread do you use?
my primary thread choice is glide 40 weight. this is a polyester thread with a beautiful sheen. i can also use omni, another type of poly-wrapped & poly core threads. it is a strong Tex 30/40 weight. i have every single color of the rainbow!

are you able to longarm quilt bag panels or whole cloth projects?
of course! the pieces must meet my shop minimum, but multiple items can be placed onto one backing for ease of use and cost consideration.

how do we hold our design consultation?
i'm super flexible here. if you're local, we can meet in real life! if not, i'm open to text messaging, e-mails, phone calls, or even video chats! totally up to you and your preference.

will you trim my quilt?
thumbs up! i'm happy to trim your finished project (at no additional cost) if you'd like. this is a simple trim only and not a full squaring of the quilt. trimmings can be returned to you or recycled at my discretion. up to you!
